Home Performance Group LLC was excited to learn the U.S. Congress reinstated and extended the Ground-Source Heat Pump (GSHP) tax credits today. The passage of this legislation is retroactive from 1 Jan 2017 and extends to 31 Dec 2021 which similiarly mirror the PV solar tax credit program. This authorization includes tax credit consideration for commercial projects as well as residential installations. The tax credit will phase reduce and phase out over the course or this authorization. The tax credit for Ground-Source Heat Pumps is 30 percent if the system is installed between 2017 and 2019, then drops to 26 percent in 2020 and 22 percent through 2021. The reinstatement, retroactive treatment and extension of this incentive should make a significant difference to individuals trying to lower their energy footprints through ultra high efficient systems. Home Performance Group considers the use of Ground-Source Heat Pumps a cornerstone technology in achieving energy star, net zero or passive home construstion goals. GSHP compliments energy conservation techniques like spray foam insulation, PH rated doors and windows, as well as energy production systems such as PV solar.
