State Septic Inspections – Did You Know
The purpose of the Missouri state septic inspection/evaluation program is to assess the current condition and operation of an onsite wastewater treatment system under normal operational conditions. The state inspection or evaluation can only be conducted in conjunction with a real estate transaction. A septic inspection is a comprehensive assessment of the entire OWTS including, the condition of the tank and components, setback distances, signs of present or past malfunctioning, and the functional operation of the system. A septic evaluation does not assess system operation and is used on septic systems that have not been in continuous operation for at least six months, or on a property that has been vacant for 60 or more days.
A soil morphology report can be used in conjunction with a state septic inspection or evaluation. The soil report provides information on possible restrictive layers, water tables, and detailed analysis of the soil. This information can be used to determine soil/system compatibility.
